Citrix NetScaler 9: Faster Deployment Time, Automated Application Maps Boost the Value Proposition

On November 12, 2008, Citrix Systems, headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, announced the upcoming availability of Citrix® NetScaler® 9. NetScaler is an appliancebased Application Delivery Controller (ADC) that secures and accelerates Web applications. NetScaler 9 is a software-only release, available free of charge to NetScaler customers covered by a maintenance agreement as of November 26, 2008.

Simplicity and ease of deployment are the themes of this release, which includes over 350 enhancements. Most notably, NetScaler 9 introduces AppExpert Templates that reduce the time required to provision NetScaler for popular business applications from weeks to minutes. It also introduces AppExpert Visualizer, a new tool that incorporates adaptive intelligence to build and maintain diagrams of business applications as they map to the infrastructure. NetScaler 9 also introduces AppExpert Rate Controls that identify Web traffic and prioritize it based on any number of user or traffic attributes. This capability has implications for both Service Level Management (SLM) and security, and adds to the adaptive intelligence capabilities of the NetScaler line.
